The LOST.
The Economist presents a breakdown of Oscars awards in relation to census representations of race. What it leaves out is that most lead roles are presented to white people, and the majority of Non-white Oscars awards went to race specific lead roles. It doesn't address the skewed distribution of roles, nor stereotypes in roles that don't allow for Oscar nominations.

OECD Better Life Index
Launched in 2011 by Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress, also known as the Stiglitz-Sen-Fitoussi Commission, the OECD’s Better Life Initiative attempts to bring together internationally comparable measures of well-being. It leaves out a good portion of the world, doesn't provide a breakdown of catagories and methodologies, nor the group sample, that determined the statistics. It beautifies, and thereby obscures a comprehensive picture, since you can't tell what the petals really mean.

The Ugly.
Americans Untied for Life, and anti-abortion group, presented this double axis graph that was brought into Senate discussion on Panned Parenthood. The controversy erupted because the abortion axis measures in the hundreds of thousands, and the Cancer Screening Services int he millions, so the "X" is a misrepresentation.
|
What it should have looked like as a regular graph. Here the abortions have remained consistent, although it is true that cancer services have plunged. Still, Planned Parenthood provides more cancer services than abortions. As well, changes in federal health legislation may be the cause, since the decline starts at 2008.
|
A wider perspective yields that most other services of Planned Parenthood has remained the same, and well above abortions.
